Start Seeing Art

This large scale mural hangs on the side of the Ordway in downtown St. Paul and was created by students from Webster Magnet Elementary School led by Jan Louise Kusske.

Estanisiao Contreras created “La Nuova Vita (The New Life)” in 1983.

Geoffrey Clarke created “Uniforge” in 1967 for the Farm Credit Banks (now Agribank). It’s located in a plaza in the middle of the block that’s accessible from either 6th Street or Robert Street.

Local artist Steven Woodward created this numerical sculpture for the Minnesota Department of Revenue Building near the State Capitol in 2001.

Local artist Karen Sontag-Sattel created “Bell of Two Friends” in 2001. It sits on Nicollet Island in Minneapolis and was commissioned by Ibaraki City, Japan (Minneapolis and Ibaraki City are sister-cities).

Local artist MartinJohn Heubach painted this mural in 2003 on the southwest side of the Hamline Avenue bridge over Ayd Mill Road.

Located on the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion on Summit Avenue, “Man-Nam” was created in 1970 by sculptor Paul Granlund.

Local artist Seitu Jones painted “Jimmy Lee the Coach” on the side of the Jimmy Lee Recreation Center in St. Paul in 1982.

The “Mississippi Guardian Birds” are four large, bronze sculptures of birds created by Douglas Freeman in 2005 and located in Upper Landing Park on the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul.

Sculptor John K. Daniels created this 13-foot monument to Norwegian explorer Leif Erickson in 1949.
