All four exterior walls (and the fence out back) of Fat Lorenzo’s Italian restaurant in Minneapolis were covered in murals created by local artist Ed Charbonneau in 2008. There’s a heavy Italian theme and even an appearance of the Mona Lisa, giving extra character and charm to this local restaurant just south of Lake Nokomis.

Local muralists Broken Crow collaborated with Over Under again for a large format mural at iWare in the spring of 2011 near the popular 13th & University intersection in Northeast Minneapolis. This mural is only a few blocks from their 2009 collaboration at Shuga Records. This work faces the parking lot of the popular music venue the 331 Club and serves as a backdrop to several outdoor concerts.

This mural at Shuga Records in Northeast Minneapolis is a collaboration between Broken Crow (Mike Fitzsimmons and John Grider) and Over Under, completed in 2009. In two years, this work is one of the most recognizable pieces from Broken Crow in Northeast Minneapolis.

Created by a team led by Dale Manor in 2008, this mural serves as a welcome to the Lyndale neighborhood. The original plan for this mural was to portray postcards of neighborhood history. It’s unclear if that plan ever came to be (apparently when I took these photos in 2008 I only included the welcome sign, which means the postcard images either weren’t there or were obstructed so badly I couldn’t even see them).

This curious bit of graffiti/mural is located on the side of the Transportes Zuleta building on the corner of Nicollet and 37th Street in Minneapolis. It appears it might be connected to Los Gallos Inc., a company that offers Hispanic financial services. It could also just be random dolphin graffiti, given the giant illegible signature and date.

The cat and mouse are likely unconnected, but they’re fun as well.

This Salvation Army mural appears on the side of the Nicollet Avenue Salvation Army Thrift Store in Minneapolis. It was painted in 2008 by a group led by artist David Petri as part of the Walldogs on Nicollet project.

Judy Grossman’s “Sport Beer” mural is on the second floor of the Ungerman Construction building, so it’s a little hard to see. It was painted in 2008 as a part of the Walldogs on Nicollet project.

In 2003 artists Shelby Gonzalez and Jane Elias worked with local teens to create the “Doggie ‘Do” mural on the east wall of The Groomsmen, a pet groomer in Minneapolis.
