In 1999 and 2000 a memorial garden took shape at the Minnesota State Capitol mall that honors the woman’s suffrage movement. Created by Raveevarn Choksombatchai and Ralph Nelson, the garden includes a woven metal trellis and plaques that tell the story of the woman’s suffrage movement. The original garden didn’t function as intended and was redesigned in 2004 by Roger Grothe.

It’s the first of several works farther away from the capitol that get away from strict statuary monuments and offer something much more interesting.
