Shunyata by Steven Woodward
Local artist Steven Woodward created this numerical sculpture for the Minnesota Department of Revenue Building near the State Capitol in 2001. The sculpture features the numerals 0-9 (it seems 9/6 is either the same sculpture or worked into the landscaping) among the landscaped entrance to the Revenue Building. The numbers are large granite works, suitable for kids to climb on.
It’s a fairly simple idea, putting numbers in front of a revenue building, but I think it works. Any time the kids have a blast, you’re doing something right.
Woodward shares some of the process in creating “Shunyata,” which involved creating miniature and life size models of each sculpture.

i didn’t even notice the other numbers (though there’s a picture of a couple of the other ones elsewhere in my photostream).
