St. John the Baptist De La Salle by Unknown
St. John the Baptist De La Salle is the patron saint of teachers. He was a French priest and education reformer in the 1600s who dedicated his life to teaching the children of the poor. This statue stands at De La Salle High School on Nicollet Island and was given as a gift of the classes of 1951 and 1952.

Hey! That’s my school! Or it was in 1977. The statue was always part of the background. Nice to think of it being appreciated as art in the city.
Thanks for posting the pictures!
