The Last Journey by Jacob Lawrence
“The Last Journey” is by Jacob Lawrence and is based on a painting in the book Harriet and the Promised Land (here’s a glimpse of the original painting). It was given in honor of Charles Joel Winton Jr. by his daughter Helen Winton Whitney.
The text of the sculpture reads:
The chariot was sent
By the Lord’s own hand,
And Harriet
Rode the chariot
To “The Promised Land!”
Harriet, Harriet,
Born to be free,
Led her people to Liberty!
