Theodore Wirth by Bill Rains
Theodore Wirth was instrumental in developing the Minneapolis Park system. He wanted to ensure that every child within the City of Minneapolis was no more than six blocks from a park.
In this composition, Wirth is surrounded by five children representing the diverse populations of Minneapolis and illustrating Wirth’s role in designing parks to be inviting to children. This work stands in Theodore Wirth Park in the southwestern corner of Minneapolis.
